Think Big Team

Shannen Recio is a current junior at UC Davis pursuing a degree in Global Diseases Biology, where she is focusing on researching ancient diet and diseases. She has been part of Multiplying Good for almost eight years now and was president of the Students In Action team at her school for two years. Her passion for service extends beyond Multiplying Good. She started her own nonprofit organization when she was a sophomore in high school called 'New Beginnings' aiming to provide hope, love, and a new beginning to a refugee family in need through care packages. Continuing with her passion for refugees, she served as a Congressional Action Team member for UNICEF and a youth speaker and advocate for genUN.

Chiara is a high school junior and a student ambassador for Wonderbag, where she works to bring non-electric slow cookers to low-income communities around the world, helping provide women and girls the time to determine their educational and financial futures. After receiving a Jefferson Award for her work, Chiara participated in the 2020 ACLU National Advocacy Institute and increased her focus on civil liberties, organizing and advocacy. This year she is looking forward to planning Marin Academy’s Conference on Democracy where she will design sessions and facilitate conversations about the sustainability of democratic governance in the 21st century. She is inspired by Multiplying Good’s ability to raise a diverse selection of voices and perspectives as they recognize excellence in service and leadership

Jordan is a senior at Moorestown Friends School in New Jersey. At age 10, Jordan Grabelle founded Love Letters for Literacy, an innovative nonprofit which promotes childhood literacy in at-risk communities. Over the past seven years, Jordan has recruited 22,000+ volunteers to create 53,000+ literacy packets for children-in-need across all 50 states and 31 countries. Each packet includes 26 A-Z flashcards, a note encouraging learning to read, and instructions explaining engaging games to play with the flashcards. Jordan hopes to provide all children with the tools needed to learn to read.

Safia is a sophomore studying media art and design in Middlesex County College and is planning on transferring in the next year to a 4 year school to pursue fine arts education and graphic design. She first got involved with Multiplying Good as a 6th grader in her school where she was an active member of Students in Action. She carried on being a part of her SIA team throughout high school and joined the Think Big Team in her junior year of high school. Soon she became the head of the previous Communications committee of the Think Big Team and is now on the Executive Council of the TBT as the VP of Marketing and Communication. Outside of the Think Big Team her service passion focuses on racial equality and mental health as both play a big impact in her life.

Cat Martinez is a senior at Sky Mountain Charter School and plans to study History in college. She became involved with Multiplying Good through Students in Action, where she served as President of her SIA team. She and her team were recognized both regionally and nationally for their work with foster youth. She is passionate about civics and engaging younger individuals in civic work through mentorship and the cultivation of their leadership potential. In every service opportunity she partakes in, she makes it a point to draw attention to the topic of mental health and implores others to look for ways they can be a part of a bigger solution. She is a strong believer in the importance of dialogue and conversation to overcome issues and create solutions to those things that divide us as a society. As a member of the Think Big Team, she hopes to continue her work in advocacy and have the opportunity to create change at every possible level. In her spare time, Cat enjoys writing, playing guitar, and spending time with her friends and family.

Kyzelle is a senior at Stratford High School. She became involved with Multiplying Good since joining her high school’s Students In Action team as a freshman. She serves as the president of the Students In Action team at her school for the 3rd year now. Kyzelle strives to engage her community, especially her peers, in service through a great range of substantiate causes. With this mission, she helps build big, positive impacts, such as combating hunger and poverty, engaging students to others through acts of kindness, and encouraging people to promote a passion for service within the local community and beyond South Carolina.

Mallorie a high school senior at Lexington High School in South Carolina. Her service passion is Public Health Education and providing donations/services for areas in need of proper healthcare. Her goal is to become a PA with a specialty in infectious diseases and to implement service into her career every day.

Noreen Singh is a current senior at California State University, Stanislaus studying psychology, where she is focusing on child development. She has been a part of Multiplying Good for almost 8 years and has served many positions in her Students in Action team at El Camino High School. She has hosted and led over 30 service events and conferences. She is also a part of Multiplying Good’s High School Heroes Alumni Team. Her love and passion for service and volunteerism is illuminated in all aspects of her life. She is very passionate about education, mental health, diversity, and advocating equality for minority groups. She strives to empower and inspire others to make a change in their community and accomplish their goals and dreams no matter what may come.

Sophie is a recent graduate of Clemson University beginning her career in the field of mental health rehabilitation and community-centered care. She was a founding member of the Greenville Technical Charter High School's Students in Action team in 2015 which went on to win the Gold National Jefferson Award in 2016. While at Clemson, Sophie worked with a team of student Senators to establish the first LGBTQIA+ Living-Learning residential Community in the state of South Carolina. In addition to advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, Sophie is also passionate about women's empowerment, mental health, self-love and acceptance, and the power of empathy in the fight for social justice.

Maddie is a junior at the Academy for Arts, Science, and Technology in Myrtle Beach, SC for the Pre-Medicine program. She is involved in many different activities, such as the Tree Huggers Club oriented towards helping the planet, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), multiple Honor Societies, and is a founding member of her school's Students In Action program. Through her SIA chapter, she has worked to give children with special needs a bigger voice in the school system, along with hosting an end-of-year prom for those students who wouldn't be comfortable or safe attending their schools traditional proms. Through this service project, done during the beginning of COVID-19, Maddie was able to stretch her skills as both a leader and a coordinator, as adapting to the ever-changing situation during the first year was a good preface of what was to come: hard work and a wonderful, promising outlook on future service projects.

Hailey Richman is a Sophomore in high school. She is the founder and director of KidCaregivers, a nonprofit which offers peer-to-peer support for youth with family members who have Alzheimer's disease; and provides intergenerational programs for students and Alzheimer's patients. She is also the Executive Director for PuzzlesToRemember a nonprofit that collects and distributes puzzles for Alzheimer's patients.

Gabby is a senior at Frankton High School. She will be studying journalism at Indiana University Kokomo in the fall of 2023. She began her journey with Multiplying Good through Students In Action which she is on her 6th year of. She has a focused passion on civil rights and mental health. Her mission statement is that everyone can make a difference and she works very hard to do so.

Ayaz is a junior attending high school at An-Noor Academy. He spent most of his life in Piscataway, New Jersey, where he co-founded his SIA team, Khidma SIA. He is an avid reader and a strong believer in justice through advocacy. Ayaz hopes to continue his work with the Think Big Team and grow a strong network of people who are willing to fight for change.

Yaseen is a junior at John P. Steven High School. She competes in Model United Nations, Mock Trial, and regional debates with her school teams. Yaseen actively participated in Students in Action since 2018, and she is now the co-president of Khidma SIA. She manages monthly food drives, gift drives, hygiene supply drives, and much more. In 2019, her SIA team won the Governor’s Award for public service, following which her team competed in the national Jefferson Award ceremony at DC, where they received the bronze medal. In her free time, Yaseen enjoys baking, sleeping, and watching Netflix!

Carla Garcia-Robinson is a Junior at Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies and is a part of a hybrid college program at her high school. She is expected to graduate 2023 not only with her high school diploma but also with an AA from Pierce College. This is her second year being a part of SIA and Multiplying Good. Last year, her team won a National Jefferson Award for their service work in Los Angeles. She looks forward to embracing new environments and new ways to provide service to those.

Abigail Verino is a first generation Filipina-American who is a first-year student at the University of California, Berkeley studying Ethnic Studies, Social Welfare, and Public Policy.

Through servant leadership, Abigail has been able to find her passion for charity, echoed through her volunteerism in youth ministry, community events, and through starting her own nonprofit. She aims to increase the dialogue for social justice, and the diversity and equity inclusion of minorities through education, providing individuals with better education resources on the topic of sexual violence prevention.

She served as El Camino High School’s ASB President and SSFUSD Student Trustee for two consecutive years. During her Junior year, Abigail co-founded the nonprofit organization, the Student Trauma Open Platform (STOP), in partnership with a local nonprofit in her area, Rape Trauma Services, to educate students on sexual violence prevention and provide a space for students to heal. The STOP Program received a Gold Banner after being presented at Public Service Pitch Day 2021 to the Multiplying Good Students in Action (SIA) Organization and was recognized nationally at the 2022 SIA Indianapolis Youth Service Convention. Abigail received the Warrior Impact Award at a Golden State Warriors Game, as well as receiving recognition at a San Francisco Giants Baseball game. She was recently interviewed by KPIX CBS Bay Area upon the creation of her non-profit and is now a Students in Action Site Facilitator Intern at UC Berkeley.

Abigail moves with compassion and is extremely dedicated to her craft of service. She is a servant leader who wants to make love visible to the people she serves, reminding every individual that they are capable of becoming their own leaders to further create change and impact in their own communities, and to lead with love.

My name is Caleb Richardson and I am so honored to be a part of the Think Big Team this year! I am a High School Junior from Easley, South Carolina where I attend Wren High School. I have been a member of my high school’s SIA team for 3 years and have extremely enjoyed my experience in collaborating with Multiplying Good. Another fun fact about me is that I run Track and Cross Country for Wren High School and our team was the 2022 AAA Track and Field State Champions. I look forward to improving my community service skills and impacting the nation as a part of this team.

I am in my sophomore year at El Camino High School and currently have the privilege to serve as SIA President after being a part of the team for one year! I am very passionate about guiding others as they discover who they are and who they want to be, and am currently working on a Student Athletes Program service project for my school to promote inclusivity and teamwork amongst student athletes and students with intellectual disabilities. Outside of Multiplying Good, I have been a part of the ASB class for four years at both my middle and high school, and also have volunteered with Old Skool Cafe and Special Olympics, in which both organizations sit very close to my heart. Old Skool Cafe has given me the opportunity to get to know at-risk youth who get another chance at life through working in the restaurant business that happens to be a 1920s speakeasy. Through the organization, I have been able to work with and connect with many inspirational individuals who have completely altered my perspective on what it truly is to be a leader and have dreams turn into reality. Working with Special Olympics and coaching the spring Bocce team opened my senses and helped me see how magical it is watching people work together, even if it be through a sports team.

Elin is a freshman at Columbia International University studying Business Administration and Philosophy. She was a member of Lexington High School's Students in Action team from 2019-2022. With the help of her SIA advisors, Elin started her blog, "The Helping Hand," which spreads awareness for physical disabilities. Eventually, she strives to establish a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities receive proper accommodation materials in the public school system. Elin is honored to be a part of the Think Big Team and is excited to see where it takes her!

I am a senior at Fort Cherry High School and plan to study Public Relations with a minor in Spanish at Coastal College University. I am involved in many different activities, such as the Fashion Club, which I founded, National Honor Society since my sophomore year, and I am the founding member of my school's Students In Action program. Through our SIA chapter, I applied for and received a $500 mental health grant from Staunton Farm. With these funds, my team and I were able to host 5 active workshops for students, in grades 7-12, to teach how to have an awareness mindset to achieve success academically, emotionally, socially, and with personal skills. I love the passion for service that Multiplying Good has and I am grateful to be part of making a difference in the people and community around me.

Hello! My name is William Holden and I am a member of TBT. I am currently in High School in Indiana, with myself being involved with my local SIA team and more. I find community to be a vital part of my life because community is what we are. We are a community of people who will always be there for each other, which is why I joined TBT.

Raahim Hashmi, a Junior at Piscataway High School’s Law Academy, serves as his district’s representative to the Board of Education. He is also the President of his local Students in Action team, helping launch it as a 501(c)(3). His love for service has always been present, whether that be attending or organizing sandwich drives, hygiene drives, and more! In the future, Raahim hopes to study political science to pave the path to law school.

Jeanne or Jea is currently a senior at Avon High School. This is her second year in Students In Action and her first year on the Think Big Team. Having only had her first taste of service during her first year in Students In Action, she is excited to continue learning about service and its ripple effect.

Mallory is a freshman at Clemson University studying Biological Sciences and Computing Sciences. She was a member of the Lexington High School Students In Action team for four years. During this time, she helped to lead and organize several projects that served as fundraisers for Cancer of Many Colors, a local charity that works to support those fighting cancer in their community, as well as for the St. Baldrick’s Pediatric Cancer Foundation. As she moves into a new chapter of her life, she is excited to explore different service opportunities in her new community and utilize the skills she learned in Students In Action to make an impact. She is honored to serve alongside other young leaders from around the country to continue to multiply the good throughout the next generation of servant leaders.
